Which comic books sell well in the future? Which comics accrue the most value over time? From an investment standpoint, should I collect every single issue of a series or should I focus on only the important ones?
Questions like these can be limitless for a newcomer, but it all boils down to just one simple question: what kind of comic book collector are you? Are you a fanboy, or do you want to cash it all out in the future for profit? There are two basic types of comic book collector: The fan and the investor. Comic book fans collect whichever title they most enjoy reading. Investment collectors choose which titles they feel will build up most value over time. While recent mini-series titles like “Infinite Crisis” make for great reads, they don’t accumulate value very well. On the other hand, ongoing titles such as “Incredible Hulk” may attain future value better than mini-series titles, but the storylines of late have been weak, and reader complaints have been mounting.
